More info

Characterized by the "Arts and Crafts" style, evident in the densely stylized natural patterns, this wallpaper was originally designed by children's book illustrator, Walter Crane. Many of Crane's designs became wallpaper for nativity scenes and the "Briar Rose" began life as the background for a wallpaper called "Sleeping Beauty", which featured the characters of Beauty. sleeping among the roses. Found in Oxburgh Hall, little is known of where in the house the wallpaper was used, as much of the original now exists only as loose samples.
