More info

Isio Bajii (Terrazza Alta) is a memory painting on the fauna and flora of the Cahuinari River, in the Caqueta basin, a tributary of the Amazon in southern Colombia. The wall decoration made from this painting supports the work of its author and his approach to preserve and transmit the natural environment and the culture of the Nonuya and Nuinane peoples, as well as the traditional way of teaching biological knowledge, the role of each plant, and their spiritual significance, from generation to generation. Mogaje Guihu (Abel Rodriguez), also known as Don Abel, was born among the Nonuya in 1944. He was trained by his uncle in the knowledge of traditional botany. In the 1990s, due to violent unrest in the region, he had to move to Bogotá, where he developed his painting practice. Today his work is internationally recognized by artists, curators, and scientists. At Isidore Leroy, we are particularly convinced of the artistic and cultural importance of Mogaje Guihu's paintings. We are very happy and proud to participate in the dissemination of his work to a wider audience, through wall decorations.
